Supported Housing for Young People (Between 16-25)
NAHA (National Affordable Housing Agreement)
Avon Youth Community & Family Services Inc. provide short to medium term accommodation for homeless and at risk young people making the transition to independent living through a scheme entitled the National Affordable Housing Agreement, (NAHA). An assessment screens for specific issues that may impact on a client's ability to manage independently and programs are offered to assist with areas of need including hygiene, nutrition, cooking, budgeting and other social skills. AYCFS Inc. can offer a range of independent living skills courses in these domestic areas.
To be eligible clients must have a source of income and if on a Centrelink payment they must be meeting their mutual obligation requirements. Please ring for more information or to make an appointment for an assessment.
Housing support for Public and Private Tenants
(not just young people)
Public/Private Tenancy Support Service
Funded by the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support, the PTSS scheme is an early intervention short-medium term service for current Department of Housing clients, and private tenancy clients. This includes clients who have experienced homelessness or the risk of homelessness. The PTSS scheme, as an early intervention service was designed to meet the needs of those who are at risk of or who are already experiencing early signs of trouble in their housing situation.
PTSS has a broad age criteria and includes families, young people, single adults and couples. This program is not a crisis intervention service, and therefore has a limited capacity to assist clients with complex needs.
Supported Tenancy Education Program
Funded by the Housing Authority, STEP is an intervention short-medium term service for current Department of Housing clients, this includes clients who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. STEP as an early intervention service which was designed to meet the needs of those who are at risk of or who are already experiencing early signs of trouble in their housing situation.
STEP has a broad age criteria and includes families, young people, single adults and couples. This program is not a crisis intervention service, but does have a limited capacity to assist clients with complex needs.
Food and essentials support for those times when you just cant make ends meet. By appointment only on Mondays and Thursdays between 9am and 2pm.
To qualify you need to be on a health care on pension card, and you'll need your most recent Centrelink statement and bank statement or list of last 5 transactions. If you have had large bills bring the receipts for these as well. The service is limited to one application per household per year. This service is available by calling Northam on 08 9622 2612.
WA NILs Loans
We are an agency for WA NILs and can help you with your online loan application. The office has a list of all the products you can apply for a loan to purchase and the list of documents you'll need to apply. Call 08 9622 2612 for an appointment with our NILs Loan Officer, Wendy.
If we don't offer the service, we will help you find someone who does.
Hiring of Equipment and Trailers
We do hire out our equipment and trailers on a provisional basis. Make enquiries at the front office in Northam or call 08 9622 2612 to see if you meet the conditions. Unfortunately we are no longer hiring out our bus. Apologies for the inconvenience.
